Originally made of animal hide, drumheads had to adapt to the variations of  the drummers’ needs, as outdoors settings and changes of temperatures would badly affects the skin’s conditions. It was only in the 1950s that everything changed, when The DuPont company of Delaware trademarked a new product called Mylar polyester film, whose one of the many possible applications was a drumhead.

Although looking pretty  much similar, drumheads can dramatically affect your playing, therefore it’s worth to spend some time in this section to make sure you choose the ones that better suits your needs for specific sounds and effects.
