Established in 1996, Bosphorus Cymbals was founded by the three of the most experienced cymbals smiths in Turkey, Hasan Seker, Ibrahim Yakici and Hasan Ozdemir. These three Masters are the most experienced cymbals smiths still actively producing cymbals in Turkey. Growing up in the same neighbourhood in Turkey, the three Masters were sent to earn their keep in a local cymbal smithery. They began as any young apprentices would, cleaning floors and stoking the fires of the ovens for smelting and casting but in time they began to be taught the art of cymbal making. Taught by the original Masters who manufactured all the legendary cymbals of the 60's and 70's, each of the Bosphorus founders became a Masters in his own right while still quite young.

Hasan Seker, Ibrahim Yakici and Hasan Ozdemir worked together in the same workshop for the following 16 years, producing some of the finest cymbals of those decades before deciding to form their own company, and Bosphorus Cymbals was born. The Masters still have a great relationship with their former employers and will always respect the teachers who taught them their art but it was then a time to evolve and produce some of the most musical metal on the planet. Today Bosphorus has 16 cymbal smiths, 8 of whom have been training since the company was born which creates a body of skill and professionalism that allows Bosphorus to produce truly legendary cymbals.

Bosphorus Cymbals are one of the rare companies that truly hand crafts their cymbals. The only machinery involved in the process is used for rolling, lathing and pressing the bell. Every other aspect of the creation process is down to the mastery of it's craftsmen which creates a body of cymbals that are unique, 100% Handmade and as much an individual artistic expression as the music they are used to create.
