Remo 14" Ambassador Coated Batter Remo Clear Ambassador heads are medium-weight heads made with a single ply 10-mil Mylar film to produce an open, bright, and resonant sound with plenty of attack. Remo Coated Drumheads The coated drumhead is slightly warmer than clear heads. They’re known for their bright warm tones, resonance, and sustain. Coated heads are best known as batter and resonant heads warming up the sound of tom-toms and bass drums.

'The most popular drum head in the world' according to Remo's website. In fairness, you'd be best to believe them as Remo are one of the largest (if not THE largest) manufactorers of drum heads on the planet.  Plus it's the only drum head in our top 10 best selling products. The numbers don't lie/give alternative facts people.
Time to get the technical. The Coated Ambassador is constructed with 1-ply 10 mil coated film and produces lovely warm and bright tones which make you feel all fuzzy inside. It is made out of a highly durable material known as Mylar. This was revolutionary when it was introduced in the 50's as drummers were still using animal hides as drum heads and with the durability of Mylar drumheads and rock n' roll just around the corner, where drummers would be hitting a lot harder, you could argue that Remo's timing was nothing short of impeccable.
A vast array of artists endorse Remo drum heads. This inludes Dave Weckl, Mike Portnoy, Thomas Lang, Vinnie Colaiuta, Taylor Hawkins, Tre Cool, Steve Gadd, Peter Erskine, Stewart Copeland...you get the idea.
