Malletech BB34 Bob Becker Xylophone Mallets
Bob Becker Series - a medium-bright lightweight xylophone mallet with a clear, but not overly bright tone. The BB34 is Malletech's best-selling xylophone mallet. Designed for solo xylophone use, both of Bob's original plastic models are light, similarly weighted and easy to maneuver quickly around the instrument. The rattan handle diameters are 7.5 to 8 mm on the BB32 and 7.1 to 7.5 mm on the BB34. These mallets will not damage rosewood bars in any way.
Bob's two new rubber models are extra heavy rubber, producing powerful, pure xylophone tone without the contact noise usually associated with rubber mallets. These 4 models, all clustered between 26 and 34 give the serious xylophonist an unprecedented range of tonal shadings.
Most percussionists know Leigh Howard Stevens as the marimbist Time Magazine hailed as the world's greatest classical marimbist and the author of the most widely used book on the subject of four-mallet technique and as a concert artist, educator and recording artist. Not as many know that he is the founder of Malletech and that he has recently received his fifth and sixth U.S. Patents for keyboard percussion design (most recently for real-time control of the depth and speed of vibrato and for Malletech's super-smooth resonator technology). Leigh is actively involved with the company and using input from the artists who perform on Malletech, he designs all the products.
