Nina C Young

(b. 1984)
Nina C Young was born in Nyack, New York in 1984. Her first introduction to instrumental study was at the age of 12 teaching herself the violin. After graduating from high school in 2003 she studied engineering and music at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From 2008 to 2011 Young studied composition with Sean Ferguson, orchestration with Jean Lesage and mixed music with Phillipe Leroux at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music. She partook of a year of residence at the American Academy of Rome where amongst other compositions, Temenos was composed. Young’s music has been acclaimed worldwide with performances by ensembles including  the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Aspen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Ensemble de Musique Interactive. Young actively promotes new music and in addition to concert composition also creates for theatre, film and dance.
