Theo Brandmüller

(1948 - 2012)
Theo Brandmüller was born in Mainz, Germany in 1948, shortly after World War II. He studied composition and organ in his formative years and in 1979 became the professor of composition at the Saarland Academy. Brandmüller performed contemporary repertoire for the organ at home and widely abroad and won several prizes for his works such as the Rome Prize of the Villa Massimo 1979 and gained a scholarship of the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris. His most significant work was his Concerto for organ and orchestra written in 1981. Theo Brandmüller died in Saarbrücken, Germany in November 2012.
