Binsasara for Hire
A percussion instrument originating in Japan, the binsasara is a string of small wooden boards, flexibly connected together. With handles at both ends, the stack of wooden plates are played by moving them like a wave. The player shakes the instrument and each board hits the other creating a wooden, ripple effect as the numerous boards hit one another. The binsasara is used in folk songs, rural dances and kabuki theatre.
