Conch Shell for Hire
Conch shells are found on the islands of the Pacific. Once the conch inside has died, one can blow through the cavity producing an effect not dissimilar to a horn. There are several reasons for the mouthpiece. Playing a conch shell through the small natural hole can be extremely difficult requiring a huge amount of air (puff) and the edges can also be very sharp. In addition, small remnants of conch can still remain after it has died so to avoid contracting fin-rot, it is wise to use a mouthpiece.
