Lujon for Hire
The lujon is a wooden sound chamber originating in the US that has 6 metal plates screwed onto the top of the chamber. Each plate has a specific note, under which is its own resonator box, and are arranged chromatically. Soft beaters are used to create a sound that would be similar to a metal marimba if one were ever to exist. There is not much call for the lujon in day to day orchestral use due to the nature of the instrument and also due to its lack of power. However, the lujon is used on a regular basis in recording studios, where under close microphone conditions, its sound is unique.
