Mussel / Oyster Sistrum for Hire
A sistrum or from the Greek siestron, or the Dutch hurdygurdystring, is essentially a metal frame of which objects are threaded and passed through the frame. A conventional sistrum has metal plates that rattle against the frame and each other. A mussel or oyster sistrum is a jazzed up version. If constructing a fishy sistrum, it is important to obtain high quality seafood from the outset. Research has shown that a lower quality mussel or oyster has a marked affect on the sound that the shell will produce after cooking.
