The superball has developed as a specialist beater rather than an instrument itself. The ball is just a round circular lump of rubber that creates a huge amount of friction when dragged across a flat, hard surface. It is somewhat irrelevant what surface it is dragged across as the rubber will produce the friction needed to micro-bounce across the surface. One of the best instruments to use with the superball is the tam-tam.
