Ching Ching for Hire
The exact wording for this instrument is unclear, but ching ching are small Chinese cymbals that are found in pairs. Their size range from 6 to 8" and each cymbal has an extremely large central bell. Rather than straps, each cymbal has a string attached through the hole and the edges are slightly upturned. When played together, the sound is very changy due to the material, either bronze or brass and the relative thickness. Rarely used in western classical music, ching ching are regularly found in all types of eastern music including Chinese opera.
