Description

Davul Drum - for Hire

Also known as a tapan, atabal or tabl, the davul is a double headed drum with the shell constructed of hardwood. A goat skin is usually used for the head and it is this that gives the davul its deep and resonant bass sound. The davul is used mainly in the areas of the middle east. The method of playing is usually by a rope hooked enable the drum to be played sideways making one head accessible with the left hand and one with the right. Each hand is usually dedicated to playing one side of the drum exclusively, though this can vary by local style and tradition.
