Boobams for Hire
2 octaves to hire, F-F. Boo bams started their life in the USA and are now a regular (if slightly unusual) instrument within the word of percussion. Each tube, which has a diameter of 4-6", has a thin plastic head fastened tightly over one end. Differing tube lengths then give the pipe its own note and the sound is a mix between marimba, tom tom and something else tuned and plastic. Since is conception, the range of boo bams have increased to 3 octaves. The lowest notes now have very long tubes to match the sound quality of their shorter neighbours, which results in the lower octaves being angled towards the player.
